Nike x CollisionTheory ‘Manny Pacquiao Boxing Ring Portrait’

Philippines-base art troupe CollisionTheory returns to the scene with aggression, quite literally, over the weekend.  Commissioned by Nike and Nike Philippines the man behind CollisionTheory, AJ Dimarucot, created a portrait of the Filipino national hero, boxer Manny Pacquiao.  The larger than life illustration served as the boxing ring mat for an invite-only viewing party hosted by Nike for the Pacquiao vs. Cotto match Saturday evening.  A collage of symbolism in Pacquiao’s life, from the Philippine Eagle, personal stats, to championship belts and trainer Freddie Roach, all formed a resemblance of Pacquiao.  The canvas then went through a top-down splatter application in blood red paint.  Making the installation a hallowing effigy of the World Champion.
